Post The Girl next Door - TV premiere in Germany

This evening (March 21) The Girl next Door is shown the first Time in German television - 20:15 on Pro7. Because of the some trouble the movie has not or only for a short time been shown in the cinemas. Therefore it's not so well known around here.
So prepare for some new enamored victims (you know what I mean ) of Danielle to arrive in this forum.

Germany's best selling daily tabloid, the Bild took this event to puplish a lurid article. I am not sure if it was also in the actual newspaper or only in the online version because I don't buy such rubbish. The newspaper can be compared with UK's The Sun. So the usually write nonsense. But they should not be underestimated simply because it is the best-selling newspaper in Europe and has the third-largest circulation worldwide.
My opinion: kids should not have their own TV set. So I don't see any problem. The movie also does not show anything really critical.

Here's a rough translation I made:

Really suitable at the age of 12?
Such besexed stuff airs Pro7 at 20.15
by ULI SCHÜLER

„Mommy, what is a porn actress?“

This is a question many parents will have to hear this eveing. The reason for this is that the American scandal-porn-comedy "The Girl Next Door" with Elisha Cuthbert (24) airs at prime time (Pro7, 20.15).

She plays a young porn actress who makes her neighbour boy fall in love with her.
What is shown: bouncing boobs, sex scenes and pithy quotes like: "Do you wanna f**k me?"

In America the authorities gave the movie a R rating! The American top movie critic Roger Ebert even found the flic to be morally critical.

Pro 7 in contrast has no concerns. The TV companies' spokesperson: "In Germany the movie got a rating allowing 12 year olds to see it. In television you can air those movies after 8 pm."

Indeed..
The article is typical and especially canting because the tabloid itself always has a nude girl on their front page, happily shows a gallery with all "nude" scenes from TGND, has a lingerie advertisement next to it and an erotic rubric with links to porn sites.
But well.. even bad advertisement is advertisement. So may many people watch the film.

They're just taking some minor scenes that may show some of these things, and exaggerating them... although, I think the rating is a bit low (12 year olds?). The newspaper has totally ignored the actual meaning of the film, and just twisted it to sound dirtier than the film actually is... I mean it's not like there is non-stop sex scenes, and the ones that there are, are not exactly vivid... grrr, people like this always make me angry. I'm guessing that they didn't even bother to watch the film, and made this review based upon stereotypical views... welcome Chris, btw ;)

Well, that's Germany No problem with nude scenes, alcohol or swearing... and the best thing about that is: Their ratings apply to Austria as well

muhaha.. Elisha fever has caught Germany!

In the German student community site Studiverzeichnis similar to facebook a lot of new posts in several Elisha Cuthbert / TGND groups pop up all reporting stuff like
"love on first sight", "impossible to switch the channel or turn off the TV" "no matter how tired I was.. had to watch a 2nd time when they showed it at 1 in the morning", "can't think of anything else".

I'll do my best to guide those helpless creatures to the safe environment of this forum.
